Ship it: businesses reveal how they’re accelerating release cycles with Postman Kamalpreet Badasha December 12, 2023 Update it, upgrade it, add new features to it—whatever the goal, being able to ship code and release quickly is the name of the game. The Postman API Platform is built to accelerate release cycles, but don’t just take our word for it, hear from businesses about how they’re decreasing time to market and gaining competitive advantage. Powering up product release cycles The financial services industry isn’t traditionally known for being dynamic, but things are changing for future-forward banks. Axis Bank reports that the release cycle for some products is down to a month since using Postman, having previously been about six months. Axis Bank’s Digital Business and Transformation (DBAT) team can now easily work with partners on integrations using Postman Collections. The result? The Axis Bank Integration collection has led to a substantial increase in integrations. “The Postman API Platform is a savior for collaboration,” says Sanjay Jain, chief technology and product officer at DBAT. With publicly published APIs, the DBAT team and its partners can work in parallel on development, accelerating the overall process. Expedited feature releases Another example of a happy developer team in financial services is at global portfolio analytics company SEI Novus. Previously, new features would take weeks and weeks. Postman has enabled SEI Novus to release features in hours. “Our success is, in part, due to implementing Postman early in the API lifecycle, as it has allowed us to iterate quickly,” explains Daniel Ronde, head of engineering at SEI Novus. The agility of Postman means SEI Novus is deploying features multiple times a day. It’s now a two-click process, one to launch tests and the other to push to production. Expedited processes mean SEI Novus has increased the power of its data intelligence for clients. Confidence in production Financial services platform OVO can now launch new services in two days, down from two weeks. Developer productivity has been significantly enhanced with Postman. Testing in Postman has increased confidence in releasing new changes to the production environment. Ultimately, efficiency has increased because time isn’t being spent writing manual tests or building mock environments. “The Postman API Platform is the whole package. You can manage your API across its entire lifecycle from designing and building to maintenance,” says Putu Kusmawan, software engineer at OVO. Elsewhere, Western Governors University (WGU) has also expedited release cycles. WGU can now create an even more amazing experience for its students. Before using Postman, it would take anywhere between six to nine weeks for its release cycles. Now, release cycles only take between two to four weeks for WGU. The Postman Enterprise plan has created a fluid development cycle with automation and streamlining capabilities. “Postman is an amazing platform, it provides support for the entire API lifecycle, covering everything from testing to governance,” shares Veronica Lange, senior software engineering manager at WGU.
