Postman acquires Fern Abhinav Asthana January 8, 2026 Today, I’m excited to share that Postman has acquired Fern, a developer experience company focused on helping businesses ship polished API documentation and production-ready SDKs. We live in an increasingly API-first world. APIs power nearly every modern product and AI service, but their success depends on more than functionality alone. APIs succeed when developers can understand them quickly, integrate them confidently, and trust them in production. At Postman, we’ve always believed that great developer experience is foundational to API adoption, and Fern shares that belief. Fern builds tools that help businesses ship polished API documentation and production-ready SDKs. Teams behind public APIs at companies like Square, Auth0, Adobe, Twilio, and ElevenLabs use Fern to deliver experiences that developers can rely on. Fern Docs enables teams to create beautiful, customizable documentation that evolves alongside their API and supports modern docs-as-code workflows. Fern’s SDK Generator helps teams offer high-quality SDKs across nine major programming languages, handling common production needs without requiring teams to manually build and maintain client libraries. This focus fits naturally into how we think about the API lifecycle at Postman. Our mission has always been to help developers build better software together, and that work does not stop once an API is built. Bringing Fern into the Postman family is another step toward helping teams build APIs that developers genuinely love to use. Since launching in 2022, Fern has grown into a team of 25 and works with more than 200 customers. By joining Postman, the team will be able to reach more than 500,000 companies worldwide, including 98% of the Fortune 500, while continuing to build the product their customers rely on today. The entire Fern team is joining Postman to continue building Fern. The product, brand, and roadmap will stay the same, and existing customers won’t see any changes. I’m thrilled to welcome the Fern team to Postman, and excited about what we’ll build together.
