Introducing an API to manage your Private API Network with more automation

To help teams manage their APIs and resources more efficiently, Postman introduced the Private API Network as a centralized location for APIs, collections, and workspaces. However, overseeing these API resources manually can be a challenge, especially when a team grows or when you have a large number of elements to work with.

That’s why we’re introducing the Private API Network API for greater automation when viewing and managing resources in the Private API Network.

What can you accomplish with this new API?

With the new Private API Network API, you can automate many tasks that are involved in managing your APIs, collections, and workspaces. Here are just a few examples of what’s possible:

  • Automate the process of adding existing APIs to your Private API Network: You can create a collection that uses the Private API Network API to automatically add a new API to your network whenever a new API is added or imported to your workspace. This can ensure that your network always has the most up-to-date resources, without requiring you to manually add them each time.

  • Automate the process of organizing APIs: You can create a script that uses the Private API Network API to automatically move APIs based on tags in the description or OpenAPI specification. This can help you keep your API resources organized and easy to find, making it easier for you to manage them.

  • Automate the integration of your organizational workflows: You can consume the API to list all of your elements in the Private API Network and integrate that list with your in-house tools and workflows. This can help you see and manage your privately accessible Postman artifacts safely.

Ultimately, the new Private API Network API can be a valuable tool for anyone overseeing a large number of API resources. By allowing you to automate many of the tasks involved in staying on top of your work (and work done by your teammates), the API can help you save time and reduce the risk of errors. Now it’s even easier for any growing organization to keep the Private API Network running smoothly.
