Jump to our v11 FAQ

Our team of Postmanauts has been hard at work incorporating your feedback to deliver a more flexible and powerful Postman experience. Along with the awesome set of new features we’ve delivered with v11, we’re also making a handful of changes to our plan packaging that provide you and your teams a richer, more streamlined Postman experience—with more ways to customize Postman for your precise API development needs.

Postman now offers four plans:

  • Free: Team up with your colleagues around your APIs.
  • Basic: Basic API collaboration for a single team at $14/user/month (billed annually) or $19/user/month (billed monthly).

  • Enterprise: Drive org-wide API development with advanced support, security, and control at $49/user/month (billed annually).

Here are a few highlights of changes we are making to plans:

  • We are consolidating our Enterprise Essentials and Enterprise Ultimate plans into one powerful Enterprise plan at $49/user/month (legacy Ultimate and Essentials plans will be honored).
  • The new Enterprise plan includes the Private API Network for secure internal collaboration.
  • Professional plans now have access to Partner Workspaces for easy external collaboration.

Private API Network: making DRY (“Don’t Repeat Yourself”) API development scalable

Postman’s v11 plan updates bring a game-changing feature to all developers on an Enterprise account: the Private API Network.

Imagine a world where everyone on your team that depends on APIs can discover, consume, and track all the API development happening across your organization in one place. The Private API Network makes this a reality by providing a central directory of workspaces, collections, and APIs that your team uses internally. Say goodbye to silos and hello to seamless collaboration!

With the Private API Network, you can:

  • Reduce code duplication by enabling teams to consume APIs developed by other internal teams.
  • Onboard new team members faster by showcasing your organization’s most frequently used internal APIs.
  • Make internal APIs easily discoverable, breaking down organizational barriers and fostering better cross-team collaboration.
  • Jump-start new projects by leveraging existing APIs, reducing the time to first call and accelerating development.

For more information, check out our Private API Network documentation.

Package Library with reusable scripts: why rewrite when you could reuse?

With the v11 release, customers on Enterprise plans will now have access to our new Package Library with a whopping 100 reusable scripts. That’s four times as many as Professional plans and over 30 times as many as Basic plans.

Postman is bringing best practices towards modular package management to our scripting feature. The Package Library enables effortless reuse of test code across API requests, which eliminates redundancy, errors, and the need for manual refactoring and ensures seamless sharing and synchronization of scripts across teams.

Reusing code across API requests can be a challenge, leading to redundant, error-prone tests that are difficult to refactor and share. But fear not! Postman’s new Package Library is shaking up scripting with a new era of effortless reusability.

For more information, see our Package Library FAQ.

SSO and audit logs: exclusive security and control tools for Enterprise

With the launch of v11, audit logs and SSO configuration are now exclusively available on the Enterprise plan. Previously available to both Professional and Enterprise users, audit logs provide valuable insights into your team’s activities, user actions, and billing events. And while Google SSO was previously available on Professional plans, all of our SSO capabilities—including Google Workspace, Microsoft AD FS, Microsoft Entra ID, Custom SAML, Duo, Okta, OneLogin, and Ping Identity—will now be available solely to our Enterprise customers. This move underscores our unwavering dedication to giving organizations the tools they need to champion API security, compliance, and efficiency.

Partner collaboration is going pro

We’re officially bringing Partner Workspaces to our Professional and legacy Essentials plans. Now these teams can invite external collaborators—such as partners, clients, customers, or vendors—to collaborate on API development directly in Postman, as if they were your teammates.

With the new Partner Editor add-on, customers can also give partners the ability to make edits, share insights, and provide feedback in the workspace, reducing the need for back and forth emails or meetings. Partner Editor add-on licenses start at $29/user/month.

We’re so excited to see how our Professional plan users begin collaborating with their partners!

For more information, see our Parter Editor FAQ.

What is changing in the Enterprise Ultimate plan?

Starting May 1, 2024, we will no longer be selling new Enterprise Ultimate licenses. However, we will continue to support the Enterprise Ultimate plan for current customers and enable them to renew as Ultimate users.

The user experience for legacy Ultimate customers will remain largely unchanged with the v11 launch. Legacy Ultimate users will still see the “Enterprise Ultimate” plan name within the application, and their feature access will continue uninterrupted.

Because we are committed to providing the best possible experience for our Enterprise Ultimate customers, we are bundling additional feature sets into our legacy Ultimate plan to improve innovation for our users. See below for a full list of benefits of renewing the Enterprise Ultimate plan for legacy teams.

I’m currently an Enterprise Ultimate customer. What are the benefits of renewing my legacy Enterprise Ultimate plan?

Upon renewing your legacy Ultimate plan, you’ll have access to the following advantages:

  • Postbot: With the Ultimate plan, every user will have access to unlimited Postbot activities at no extra cost, valued at $19/user/month. Switching to the new Enterprise plan ($49/user/month base) will remove this bundling, and Postbot will cost an additional $19/user/month on top of the base plan.
  • Unlimited collection runs: Every user on your Ultimate plan will continue to have unlimited collection runs at no extra cost, valued at $49/user/month. If you opt to switch to the new Enterprise plan, all users on your account will be limited to 25 collection runs per month. To get additional runs, you will need to purchase the Collection Runner add-on for $49/user/month on top of the base plan.
  • Advanced security features: The Ultimate plan includes access to the private Secret Scanner, Secret Scanner dashboard and reporting, domain capture, and Vault integrations (HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault, and AWS Secrets Manager) at no extra cost. These capabilities together are valued at $29/user/month and are not included in the new Enterprise plan. If you switch to the new Enterprise plan, you will lose access to all of these security features. Regaining access will require purchasing the Advanced Security Administration add-on for every user on the account at $29/user/month on top of the base plan.
  • API Builder: Every user on the Ultimate plan will continue to have access to Postman’s API Builder (including unlimited API builds and both on-prem and cloud Git integration) and API Governance features (custom spectral rule builder, rule library, and governance reporting), valued together at $49/user/month. With the new Enterprise plan, these capabilities will only be available through the API Builder add-on at $49/user/month on top of the base plan.

What is changing in the Enterprise Essentials plan?

Beginning May 1, 2024, we will no longer be selling new Enterprise Essentials licenses. Once existing Essentials customers have upgraded their app to v11, they will be transitioned to the new Enterprise base plan experience, and will receive access to all features and packaging changes launched with v11. Users will also see their plan name change in the app from “Enterprise Essentials” to just “Enterprise.” Upon renewal, Essentials customers will automatically move to the new Enterprise license. See “What is included in Postman’s new Enterprise plan?” for the full list of features included.

The most significant change for Enterprise Essentials plan users is the inclusion of the Private API Network in the base Enterprise plan. This central hub and distribution channel for the organization’s APIs was previously only available with the purchase of the Internal API Management solution. Now, all Enterprise users can publish, consume, and track API development within their company using the Private API Network, enabling faster API discovery and increased reuse of internal APIs. This additional capability is now included in the Enterprise plan at the same license price of $49/user/month, providing more tools and value to Enterprise users. Learn more about the Private API Network.

In addition, we are simplifying our Collection Runner limits. Moving forward, each user in a legacy Essentials team will receive 25 collection runs/user/month with their base license, up from the previous 250 runs/team/month. Teams on Enterprise Essentials plans will have the option to maintain the previous limit of 250 runs/team/month, if they prefer. If you wish to switch to the new model, we are happy to honor this adjustment to your plan. Reach out to your Customer Success or Sales Representative to learn more, or submit a support ticket.

What is happening to the solution packages that were available with the Enterprise Essentials plan?

We are replacing the API Test Automation solution package with the new Collection Runner add-on. New Postman customers will no longer be able to purchase the Test Automation solution. Instead, they can purchase the Collection Runner add-on for unlimited collection runs at the same price. There is no change in the customer experience between Test Automation and the Collection Runner add-on. Upon renewal, existing customers with the Test Automation solution package will automatically move to the Collection Runner add-on.

We are also replacing the Internal API Management solution with the API Builder add-on. New Postman customers will no longer be able to purchase the Internal API Management solution package. Instead, they can purchase the API Builder add-on for the same price. With the addition of the Private API Network to legacy Essentials plans, all users across legacy Essentials accounts will now be able to publish to the Private API Network, as well—without having to purchase the API Builder add-on. Upon renewal, customers with the Internal API Management solution package will move to the API Builder add-on, and customers will continue to have access to all features that were part of the Internal API Management solution.

What is changing in the Professional plan?

We will continue to offer our Professional plan at $29/user/month (billed annually) or $39/user/month (billed monthly), providing robust features for API collaboration across larger teams and with external partners.

Beginning May 1, 2024, we are adding the following new features to the Professional plan:

  • Partner Workspaces: Partner Workspaces create a secure, access-controlled workspace where teams can collaborate on API development with their external partners and customers. Previously, this feature was only available on Enterprise plans. Learn more about Partner Workspaces.
  • 25 reusable scripts: New with v11, we’ve launched a new feature called reusable scripts that provides teams the ability to share and reuse test scripts via a Package Library. Teams on Professional plans now have access to 25 reusable scripts. Learn more about reusable scripts.

Professional plans purchased after May 1, 2024 will not support the following features:

  • Google SSO: While Google SSO was previously available on Professional plans, all of our SSO capabilities are now exclusive to our Enterprise plan. Learn more about configuring SSO.
  • Audit logs: Previously available to both Professional and Enterprise users, Postman audit logs are now exclusive to Enterprise. Audit logs provide valuable insights into your team’s activities, user actions, and billing events. Learn more about audit logs.

For the foreseeable future, Postman is maintaining access to Google SSO and audit logs for accounts on legacy Professional plans so teams can continue to work uninterrupted after May 1, 2024.

For new customers interested in accessing Google SSO and audit logs, check out our Enterprise plan.

How does Postbot manage my data?

We understand that data privacy and security are of the utmost importance, especially for large enterprises considering which AI tools to incorporate into their stack. Our goal is to empower your team with innovative AI capabilities that streamline your API workflows, while always keeping your data safe and secure. That’s why we designed Postbot with robust safeguards to prioritize the protection of your corporate data.

Currently, Postbot leverages multiple cutting-edge models developed by OpenAI, a recognized leader in the field of artificial intelligence. By using their proven technology, we can provide you with the most advanced AI assistance while maintaining the highest standards of data privacy and security.

Postbot operates by securely accessing data within your Postman workspaces, adhering to the same strict access controls that govern other Postman features you already rely on (such as search functionality, the Private API Network, and monitoring). Postbot adheres to all the access rules and permissions you have carefully configured for your private workspaces and collections, so you’re always in complete control of your data.

To ensure the utmost privacy, your corporate data is never used to train any third-party AI models. Data input into Postbot is only used to refine and enhance our own proprietary models, ensuring that Postbot becomes increasingly helpful for your organization’s specific needs. Furthermore, data from all Enterprise teams is strictly isolated and never utilized to improve models outside your organization’s dedicated instance.

While Postbot does retain conversation data to improve your experience over time, we employ state-of-the-art security measures to identify and remove any sensitive data or personally identifiable information (PII) from these conversation logs before they are stored. Although we partner with leading third-party providers for data storage, they are contractually prohibited from using your data for model training. For more information, check out our AI Terms.

With collection runs, you can automate your functional API testing. You can schedule runs in the Postman cloud with Monitors or Postman’s Collection Runner. The Collection Runner enables you to run requests in a Postman Collection in a specified order to test the functionality of your API. The Collection Runner logs the test results for each request, and it can use scripts to pass data between requests and change the request workflow. You can also integrate collection runs with your CI/CD pipeline using the Postman CLI, a Postman tool that enables you to run and test collections from the command line.

How does the Collection Runner add-on compare to the Test Automation solution?

We are replacing our Test Automation solution with the new Collection Runner add-on. The Collection Runner add-on will maintain the same price as the former Test Automation solution ($49/user/month). The former Test Automation solution was only available to teams on the Enterprise plan. Now, the Collection Runner add-on is available for users on Basic, Professional, and Enterprise plans.

For all users who purchased the Test Automation solution, we are honoring all configured CI/CD integrations and counting those towards the 100 integration allowance for Enterprise accounts. In addition, we will continue supporting the current mock and monitoring run limits for those users.

How many Collection Runs do users without the Collection Runner add-on have?

Beginning May 1, 2024, Postman users across all plan types will receive 25 collection runs per month with their base license. Previously, Enterprise Essentials and Professional teams were limited to 250 collection runs per team/month.

Current customers on the Enterprise Essentials and Professional plans will maintain the previous limit of 250 runs per team/month. If you wish to switch to the new model with a user-based run limit, submit a support request. We are happy to honor this adjustment to your plan.

How do I purchase the Collection Runner add-on?

Users on the Basic, Professional, and Enterprise plans can purchase the Collection Runner add-on at $49/user/month self-serve via our website or directly in-app. Free users must upgrade to the Basic plan in order to purchase the Collection Runner add-on.

Billing users can purchase the Collection Runner add-on via the in-app resources page. Learn more about purchasing add-on resources.

Note: we do not support pay-as-you-go collection runs. The only way to access more monthly collection runs is to purchase the Collection Runner add-on, which provides unlimited collection runs.

What is the Advanced Security Administration add-on?

The Advanced Security Administration add-on enables you to deploy account-wide, enterprise-grade security features, protecting your sensitive data and corporate IP across your Postman elements. With exposed secret detection and seamless integration, you can ensure the highest level of security throughout your API development lifecycle.

The add-on includes:

  • Private Secret Scanner: Run Postman’s Secret Scanner to check for exposed secrets in both team and public workspaces.
  • Secret Scanner dashboard: Access reporting and analytics on exposed secrets in team and public workspaces.
  • Vault integrations: Integrate with Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault, or AWS Secrets Manager to fetch secrets for variable resolution in run time requests.
  • Domain capture: Redirect Postman log-ins with corporate email to the company’s Enterprise account.

In the Advanced Security Administration add-on, the Postman Secret Scanner has enhanced capabilities that monitor both team and public workspaces—as well as the collections, environments, global variables, API schemas, and documentation contained within them—for exposed secrets. It also monitors all of the documentation your team has published, regardless of the type of workspace it’s found in.

Postman delivers scan results in the Secret Scanner dashboard. If an exposed secret is found, Postman notifies you by email and with an in-app notification. You can also set up Postman’s Slack integration to alert you in Slack if this occurs. Learn more about Postman’s Secret Scanner.

With the Postman Vault, teams can store all their API and client secrets in an end-to-end encrypted local storage vault within Postman. If your team is already storing these secrets in another location, you can bring them into Postman by integrating with Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault, and AWS Secrets Manager. This enables you to securely reuse sensitive data in HTTP collections, environments, and requests. Learn more about Postman Vault.

With domain capture, you can consolidate all of the Postman user accounts within your organization into one Postman Enterprise team. This enables you to only need one dashboard to maintain compliance and security across your organization. Domain capture ensures there isn’t any unauthorized usage within your organization—and that all Postman users associated with your domain are directed to your organization’s official team. Domain capture also enables teams to improve their onboarding experience and simplify team management. Team Admins can instantly give people access to the teams and resources they need to collaborate in Postman. Learn more about domain capture.

How do I purchase the Advanced Security Administration add-on?

Only users on the Enterprise plan are eligible to purchase the Advanced Security Administration add-on. The add-on is only available for purchase through our Sales team and must be purchased for all licensed users under an account (excluding external partner users). If you’re interested in purchasing the Advanced Security Administration add-on, feel free to get in touch with our Sales team.

Can I choose to purchase only select features within the Advanced Security Administration add-on?

No. The Advanced Security Administration add-on must be purchased as a complete package with the Private Secret Scanner, Secret Scanner dashboard, vault integrations, and domain capture.

What is the Partner Editor add-on?

The Partner Editor add-on is a powerful user role that can be assigned to your external partners and customers. With the Partner Editor role, API collaborators outside your organization can edit, import, export, and comment on elements in the Partner Workspaces you’ve invited them to. This gives your partners and customers the ability to collaborate on API development in Postman as if they were your teammates.

With the Partner Editor role, external users can:

  • Create and share their own collections.
  • Edit Partner Workspace resources.
  • Import and export elements.
  • Fork elements to Partner Workspaces (within same team).

How do I purchase the Partner Editor add-on?

The pricing for the Partner Editor add-on varies depending on Postman plan and billing type, and the process for purchasing the add-on licenses varies depending on your account type.

  • For self-serve Enterprise accounts with autoflex enabled: Partner Managers can invite Partner Editors directly, and the add-on licenses for invited Partner Editors will be automatically allocated and flexed based on usage. In this case, the Partner Editor add-on can be purchased for $49/user/month, billed annually.
  • For sales-serve Enterprise accounts with autoflex disabled: Partner Managers can invite Partner Editors to join the team. If there are unallocated Partner Editor add-on licenses available in the account, they will be automatically assigned to the invited Partner Editors. However, if no unallocated Partner Editor add-on licenses are available, the Partner Manager will receive a message indicating that the account has exhausted its Partner Editor licenses. In this case, the Partner Manager can request their Admins or Billing users to purchase additional Partner Editor add-on licenses for $49/user/month (billed annually) to accommodate the new invitees.
  • For Professional accounts, which have autoflex enabled by default: Any user within the account can invite Partner Editors, and the add-on licenses for invited Partner Editors will be automatically allocated and flexed based on usage. In this case, the Partner Editor add-on can be purchased for $29/user/month (billed annually) or $39/user/month (billed monthly).

Billing users can purchase Partner Editor add-on licenses via the in-app resources page. Learn more about purchasing add-on resources.

To ensure a smooth onboarding process for Partner Editors, we recommend checking the availability of unallocated Partner Editor add-on licenses before inviting new users. If additional licenses are required, please coordinate with your account’s Admin or Billing users to purchase the necessary add-on licenses.

See more information on the types of user roles that can be assigned in Partner Workspaces.

How does license allocation work for the Partner Editor add-on?

Each Partner Editor add-on license can only be allocated to one external partner user.

What is the API Builder add-on?

This add-on bundles several API lifecycle features that enable you to standardize your API designs, apply governance protocols, and ensure compliance across your organization.

The API Builder add-on includes:

  • API Builder: Design and build unlimited APIs with Postman’s API Builder. Learn more.

  • Git integration: Available through the API Builder for both on-premise and cloud.

The API Builder add-on has one-to-many functionality, meaning one licensed user can create rules that are applied universally at the account level.

How does the API Builder add-on compare to the Internal API Management solution?

The API Builder add-on is replacing the Internal API Management solution. The Internal API Management solution included all the API Builder features, as well as access to the Private API Network.

With the addition of the Private API Network to both new Enterprise base plans and legacy Essentials plans, all users across Enterprise-level accounts will now be able to publish to the Private API Network without having to purchase the API Builder add-on.

Upon renewal, customers with the Internal API Management solution package will move to the API Builder add-on, and customers will continue to have access to all features that were part of the Internal API Management solution.

How do I purchase the API Builder add-on?

Users on the Enterprise plan can purchase the API Builder add-on at $49/user/month self-serve via our website or directly in-app via the in-app resources page. Learn more about purchasing add-on resources.

Questions about v11 and new features

Do I have to upgrade my app in order to use the new features released in v11?

Yes. If you are using the Postman desktop app or if you are on an Enterprise plan with account-level deployment control, you will have to upgrade to v11 in order to begin using the new features. For Enterprise accounts with deployment control, contact your Team Admin to request an upgrade.

If you are using the web version of Postman, you will be able to access v11 features upon login as of May 1, 2024.

How do I upgrade to v11?

For Free, Basic, and Professional teams

For Free, Basic, and Professional users with the Automatically download major updates option enabled in Update Settings, an update call will run in the background, and the v11 update will be downloaded. After that, users simply need to apply the downloaded update from the Settings dropdown. Users that have the Automatically download major updates option disabled will receive automatic prompts to update the app. Visit our Learning Center for a step-by-step guide to upgrading.

For Enterprise teams using the Postman Enterprise app

Enterprise teams using deployment control with their Postman app will not receive automatic v11 updates. App versioning is a back-end operation and must be requested by a Postman Team Admin. As such, Enterprise users will remain on their current major version until the entire account is upgraded. Your Customer Success Manager will be working with Administrative users to support v11 enablement. Please reach out to your Administrator with questions.

If there are challenges with v11, is it possible to revert to the prior app version?

We’ve been hard at work to ensure you have the best possible experience upgrading to v11. Although we don’t anticipate you will run into challenges, we understand that snags can happen. If you are not completely satisfied with v11, reach out to your Customer Success Manager or file a support ticket. We’ll be happy to help you work through the issue and, if necessary, downgrade to a lower version.

Will there be any changes to the Postman API?

There are no changes to the Postman API with the v11 release.

What is the Package Library for reusable scripts?

We received feedback from users that reusing code across your API requests was difficult and often led to repetitive code that was a headache to manage. With the v11 release, we’re solving this challenge by launching a Package Library for teams to store and share their test scripts for reuse.

With the Package Library, test script packages can contain business logic and code that can be consumed in multiple requests by just referencing the package in various places within the team. Once the code in the package is updated, those changes are reflected everywhere the package is reused, saving valuable development time.

Will it be possible to sync packages and test script code from the Package Library to Git providers?

Not at this time.

Does Postman support version control for reusable scripts in the Package Library?

Currently, we do not support version control for reusable scripts.

Can I purchase additional reusable scripts for my team?

At this time, users cannot purchase additional reusable scripts for their teams.

What is a Partner Workspace?

Partner Workspaces enable you to collaborate with external partners or customers directly in Postman. You can use Partner Workspaces to help your partners consume your team’s APIs and work together on API projects. With Partner Workspaces, you can build a single source of truth and integrate your partner projects into your Postman team, setting the foundation for an efficient and productive partnership.

What is the difference between single-partner mode and multi-partner mode in Partner Workspaces?

When collaborating with external partners in Postman’s Partner Workspaces, you have the option to set the workspace to either single-partner mode or multi-partner mode, depending on your specific requirements.

Single-Partner Workspaces (i.e., Partner Workspaces set to single-partner mode) allow you to collaborate with users from one external organization (i.e., one external domain) in a private and secure environment. This mode enables you to invite external partners to view, edit, and comment on API collections and environments, promoting a unified and secure development experience. By working closely with a single partner, you can reduce integration time and streamline your API development process.

On the other hand, Multi-Partner Workspaces (i.e., Partner Workspaces set to multi-partner mode) provide the flexibility to share a set of API assets with multiple external organizations simultaneously. This mode is particularly useful when you need to expedite API circulation to a group of partner firms and reduce duplicate work across those various partners. In a Multi-Partner Workspace, your partners from different organizations can access the shared API resources. However, to maintain security and confidentiality, the visibility among external partners is limited. This means that partners cannot see each other or view other users’ activity within the workspace, ensuring that sensitive information remains protected.

By leveraging Partner Workspaces in either single-partner or multi-partner mode, you can foster productive collaboration, accelerate onboarding processes, and maintain a secure environment for sharing API assets with your external partners.

What types of user roles can be assigned in Partner Workspaces?

Postman offers three types of user roles that can be assigned in Partner Workspaces, catering to the different levels of collaboration and access required when working with internal and external partners.

Partner Manager: The Partner Manager role is assigned to collaborators within your organization. It is designed for Enterprise teams to efficiently administer and manage Partner Workspaces at scale. Partner Managers have the authority to create Partner Workspaces, invite external partners, manage users, and update workspace settings. This role ensures that your internal team has full control over the collaboration process. The Partner Manager role is exclusively available on the Enterprise plan.

Partner Viewer: The Partner Viewer role is intended for collaborators external to your organization, such as clients or customers. It provides view-only access to Partner Workspace, allowing external partners to explore and integrate APIs without the ability to modify content. Partner Viewers can view and fork workspace elements, provide feedback using comments, and watch collections to stay informed about any changes. This role is ideal for partners who need to consume and test your APIs. The Partner Viewer role is available on Professional and Enterprise plans.

Partner Editor: The Partner Editor role is also assigned to external collaborators, but it offers more advanced permissions than the Partner Viewer role. It enables external partners to collaborate as if they were part of your internal team. In addition to the capabilities of a Partner Viewer, Partner Editors can create and share collections, edit Partner Workspace resources, import and export elements, and even fork elements to other Partner Workspaces within the same team. This role is suitable for partners who actively contribute to the API development process and require more control over the workspace. The Partner Editor role is an add-on that can be purchased on Professional and Enterprise plans. Learn more about purchasing the the Partner Editor add-on.

Which plans have access to Partner Workspaces?
